Previously published here as "The Definite Article" just for the fun of it and now conveniently recycled for this week's Illustration Friday challenge -"The Letter A".
People (Oil on canvas, Photoshop) It's a long time since I posted here and even longer since I contributed to Illustration Friday. So here is my contribution to this week's challenge - People.
"With hope in his heart and all his worldly goods on his back, he set off on his great journey." An illustration for this week's Illustration Friday topic - Journey.
This week's challenge from Illustration Friday is : King. I've dug out another cartoon from the Archive (originally done with a sketching fountain pen and ink), changed the caption and run it through Photoshop to colour it. It's nice to be back on the treadmill.
Mota Tamer (mixed media) This week, Illustration Friday asked for something on the theme of Shadow. Here's a cover I did for the fanzine MOTA in 1977, given the once over in Photoshop. Posted here in memory of my old mate, Terry Hughes.
For some reason notifications of new subjects are not arriving in my email inbox from Illustration Friday. As a result, I have no time to do something new for this week's challenge - Creature. I hope this will suffice.
Lush (Black marker and digital colour) There are still lots of things preventing me from working on a regular basis, but today I digitally coloured this old (1994) drawing to submit it to Illustration Friday for this week's challenge - Lush.
In an attempt to get back into practice, here's my offering for this week's Illustration Friday challenge - Surveillance. I've used an old fanzine cover which started life with a background by Sheryl Birkhead, had a figure added by me and now has digital colour added. I acknowledge there's a little clunky corner in the lower right of the background where I had to take out the issue number - must do better.
This week, Illustration Friday asked for something on the subject of Swim. This is a heading from an old fanzine of mine called Snorkel, adapted and coloured, in the nick of time.
It's a while since I posted anything on Illustration Friday, so when they announced their challenge this week - Eye Glasses - I thought I'd bring this one up from the vaults. It's a slightly altered version of an earlier cartoon, replacing the caption with a sign within the cartoon itself.
Wheelboat (Marker, digital colour) You may have seen this before when I posted it in 2010. It's some time since I've submitted anything to Illustration Friday and in the absence of something fresh for this week's subject - Wheel - I thought I'd enter this one.
So much to do, so little time. I've posted the original of this elsewhere on this blog, but today's coloured version is for Illustration Friday's challenge - Zoom.
On this blog I doff my Painter's Hat and don the Cartoonist's Hat. Here you'll find cartoons and illustrations. For more serious work - painting and drawing - please walk over to Boogie Street.
