Are you trying to be funny ...?

After a very long lay-off from cartooning, or indeed drawing of any kind, I'm back with an entry to the Cartoonists' Forum Competition. This week's challenge was a cartoon using the set caption "Are you trying to be funny ..?" the answer to which is, I guess ... yes, I am.

It's always nice to renew acquaintance with Dr Frankenstein and his Monster.

Could have gone better.

This week, the challenge from The Cartoonists' Forum Competition was a cartoon using the given caption - Well that could have gone better.

This week, the Cartoonists' Forum Competition asked for something using the given caption "Of course you know this means war."

I've taken an old fanzine illustration and given it a retread.

Merry Xmas

This weekend the Cartoonists' Forum Cartoon Competition asked for a cartoon using the caption - "It's exactly what I have always wanted."

Kitchen Sink

This week the Cartoonists' Forum Cartoon Competition asked for a cartoon using the caption - "I can't help feeling I'm missing something."

Pantomime

I had to complete this in a tearing hurry ("Oh no you didn't!"), but still fell victim to a computer monitor reluctant to wake up after a few days rest. As a consequence, I was too late to join the plethora of pantomime horse jokes in this weekend's Cartoonists' Forum Competition on the theme of - Pantomime.

Why?

After a long lay off due to problems with my eye, I'm back in the Cartoonists' Forum Competition. This week we've been asked for a cartoon using the caption - "Why?"

Lent

My contribution to last weekend's Cartoonists' Forum, using the set caption "I see Alex has given up [blank] for Lent", the word in brackets being the choice of the cartoonist.

Good as it gets

The Cartoonists' Forum Competition this week set a fixed caption of "I guess this is as good as it gets."

Hats

This week's challenge from the Cartoonists' Forum was a wordless cartoon on the subject of Hats.

Obsession

As the winner of last week's Cartoonists' Forum Competition, I got to choose the subject for this week's. I decided on a theme, with or without caption, of Obsession, and this is my entry.

The Good Life

Richard Briers, much loved and wonderfully talented comic actor, died this week. As a tribute, the choice for this week's Cartoonists' Forum Competition is The Good Life, the title of his best known television sitcom.

[Later] This cartoon earned me First Place in the Competition!

Crime Scene

This week the Cartoonists' Forum set a theme of Crime Scene as the subject of their Competition.

[Later] Another Second Place winner.

Complain

It's nice to get the opportunity to trot out Dr Frankenstein and friend again. The Cartoonists' Forum Competition this week gave me that opportunity to do just that when they asked for a cartoon using the set caption "I really don't like to complain but..."

[Later] Voted into second place!

No Idea

Today's challenge from the Cartoonists' Forum Competition is to provide a cartoon using the set caption "I had no idea [BLANK] could be used like that!", where the "[BLANK]" can be replaced with a word or words of our own choosing.
